NIOS Training

NIOS – National Institute of Open Schooling is not just for special needs kids. Any child struggling with a mainstream syllabus’s academic load can opt for NIOS. NIOS is a standard syllabus like CBSE, State Board, and International Board. BRIGHT-The Learning Center helps children to choose NIOS and complete 10th and 12th grades.

NIOS BRIGHT process

Step 1: Enrollment with NIOS

The child can enroll in NIOS under his mainstream school or as a ward of BRIGHT Special School. Our NIOS team helps the child/his parents with the enrollment procedure.

Step 2: Choosing Subjects

NIOS offers a list of subjects for secondary education, senior secondary, open-book education (elementary-level), and others. Amongst the given choices, the child has to pick five subjects. For this selection, our panel assesses the child’s academic ability to choose suitable subjects for easier learning. In addition, we would also suggest the top subjects that are easier to understand, have good market value, and others.

For instance, ‘Data Entry Operations’ has a better market value than Indian Culture and Heritage or Home Science. However, if the ward is interested in hotel management, catering, or others, Home Science would be an excellent choice.

Step 3: Getting ready for the exam

There is very little that BRIGHT can do regarding the syllabus, as the NIOS has sole control over it. The NIOS delivers the course materials. Once you have chosen the subjects, BRIGHT will assign special educators based on your choice of subjects. No matter which subjects you choose, from Folk Art to Hindustani Music, we will assign certified and experienced trainers.

If such a trainer is unavailable in-house, we have a long list of freelance trainers, and part-time special educators specialized in some rare subject choices. One will be arranged for you as early as possible.

Step 4: Training process

We do not recommend the general blackboard classroom training. Instead, we take a practical approach and offer an in-depth understanding of each concept. We have resource materials like last year’s question papers, patterns, and guide materials. We usually set a target of two or three years for a child to train and prepare for the board exams. However, the timeline and goals would differ based on the child.

Step 5: Exam enrollment

Most children write the exams in batches, making it easier to focus on a couple of subjects each year. We help them register for the exams, guide them through exam etiquette, give simple tips for better scoring, and more. If cards are not in favor and the child has to repeat the exam, we would enroll them in the next batch or for the next year, based on the level of re-training required. Once the child is prepared and ready for the examination, we can also opt for the on-demand examination.

Step 6: Counseling for the next step

Once the child receives his 10th or 12th certificate, the NIOS process ends. The next step in most cases is to go for any job skill training and placement. Some prefer to complete their 12th and go for a college education. Our counseling team helps the child and their parents to choose the right path. We also have resources regarding the right colleges, job areas, and others where the child could easily find employment.

After all, with employment comes ultimate independence, which is what every parent strives towards.

After NIOS

Your child has three paths to choose from after getting their 10th/12th-grade certificate via NIOS.

Option 1: Higher education

If the child has completed the 10th, we can train them for the 12th NIOS. If the child has completed schooling, we can start with college applications. Our career counseling team would help the child choose the right specialization and offer a list of suitable colleges for your child. In addition, BRIGHT would offer any documents or recommendations required for college purposes. We would also provide an orientation program for the child to adapt to the new environment.

 Option 2: Job skill training

After the 10th or 12th, the child can join the ITI course and complete their diploma course. If desired, the child can take up engineering courses later on or take up jobs with their diploma course. Our counseling department will offer a list of reputed companies, government sectors, and other areas where the child can have a successful career.

Option 3: Job

Although starting with a job without job skill training is not recommended, some kids have shown interest in a specific career path and have taken up jobs directly after 10th or 12th. They begin with on-job training or part-time job and slowly move up to full-time.

NIOS syllabus and subjects

The subjects are separated into two groups.

For 10th:

Group A: It includes languages. NIOS offers all primary regional languages like Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, and others. Apart from these, there are Persian, Arabic, and English. So a child can pick up to two languages and at least one.

Under Group B, there is Mathematics, Science & Technology, Indian Culture & Heritage, Data Entry Operations, Economics, Business Studies, Painting, and others.

For 12th:

Under Group A, there are languages like English, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, and others.

Group B has Mathematics, Political Science, Introduction to Law, Accountancy, Chemistry, Physics, History, Biology, Data Entry Operations, Painting, Business Studies, and others.

Each child should pick five subjects for the exam. The child has to choose at least one language, at most two, and the remaining four or three subjects from Group B.
